Harmony Health Selected to participate in AWS Healthcare Accelerator for Health Equity

Harmony Health announced it has been selected to participate in the AWS Healthcare Accelerator for Health Equity, a technical, business, and mentorship program for startups seeking to use AWS to increase access to health services, reduce disparities by addressing social determinants of health, and/or use data to promote equitable and inclusive systems of care.

This opportunity will support Harmony Health’s efforts to enhance its micro-engagement with additional artificial intelligence and analytics capabilities to serve vulnerable, hard-to-reach, and diverse communities. Harmony Health’s platform enables people closest to the hard-to-reach communities (trusted messengers such as promotoras, community health workers, volunteers, and providers) to create conversational outreach in their own language and context using SMS in a novel way. The trusted messengers are able to engage and educate community members and patients to help with scheduling care, obtain access to needed services (food, housing) and gather insights into additional needs.

The four-week AWS Healthcare Accelerator curriculum provides hands-on AWS Cloud and technical training, mentorship, coaching, and business support. As one of 10 companies chosen for this opportunity, Harmony Health will receive up to $25,000 in AWS computing credits, AWS training and support, mentorship, and additional business development resources including opportunities to speak with healthcare-savvy venture investors. The support from AWS will advance Harmony Health’s micro-engagement platform that helps community-based organizations connect with and serve at-risk communities and individuals.

Harmony Health micro-engagement enables healthcare payers and corporations in:

  • Reaching traditionally disconnected individuals and communities in real-time and through trusted channels
  • Increasing engagement between individuals and the care services they need (thereby bringing more people into preventive care)
  • Gathering and analyzing new data (revealed by individuals) to create better insights and services design

“Harmony Health micro-engagement platform helps amplify the inclusive initiatives and efforts of trusted messengers and allows them to connect with individuals at scale and in their native language and real-time context,” said Vineet Gulati, CEO of Harmony Health. “We are excited to help scale our infrastructure and communication reach with AWS’s support, and plan to leverage tools like artificial intelligence to analyze this new genre of data that we are generating.”

“AWS looks forward to collaborating with this impressive group of startups who are helping reduce health disparities with thoughtful and inspiring solutions,” said Jeff Kratz, general manager of Worldwide Public Sector Partners at AWS. “We believe that by working together, we can help them harness the power of the cloud to make access to healthcare more equitable.”
