LiveData and DSS to Showcase Surgeon Preference Card Integration Into VA Surgical Workflow

LiveData, a surgical workflow software company, and Document Storage Systems, (DSS), a leading provider of health information technology (HIT) solutions for federal, private, and public health care organizations, announced the completion of the integration of PREFcards, a cloud-based, surgical preference card system, into LiveData’s field-proven LiveData PeriOp Manager. PREFcards’ integration will increase surgeon satisfaction and lower procedure costs while continuing to enhance patient safety, mitigate the impact of staff shortages, and meet the rising demand for operating room (OR) time.

“We’re pleased to offer the PREFcards solution as an add-on to our LiveData PeriOp Manager surgical workflow solution and look forward to working closely with DSS to introduce the product throughout the VA system.”

LiveData and DSS will demonstrate LiveData PeriOp Manager with PREFcards integration at the annual Association of VA Surgeons conference at The Edgewater Hotel in Madison, Wisconsin, on April 23-25, 2023. In addition, the two companies will offer visitors to Table 7 a complimentary assessment of their current preference cards. Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of a preference card currently used at their location to aid in the assessment.

Preference cards are catalogs of the specific tools, supplies, and operating room setup a surgeon prefers for a particular surgical case. Until recently, these preferences were captured in handwritten notes that were hard to read, cumbersome to update, and did not provide the detail needed for staff to make efficient, cost-effective decisions. With PREFcards, pre-op teams can customize every aspect of how each surgeon’s cards are organized.

“Every VA surgeon we talk to about preference cards has confirmed that the right card can be as valuable as any single item on the card,” said LiveData CEO Jeff Robbins. “We’re pleased to offer the PREFcards solution as an add-on to our LiveData PeriOp Manager surgical workflow solution and look forward to working closely with DSS to introduce the product throughout the VA system.”

“This new integration is a prime example of how we are working with our partners to develop the right solutions to help the VA meet its High Reliability Organization (HRO) goals,” said Mark Byers, president of DSS, Inc. “We always strive to create software and data-driven solutions that meet these important goals and help ensure patient safety at all times for VA care facilities.”

LiveData PeriOp Manager provides real-time situational awareness to optimize the perioperative experience for patients, their families, clinicians, and the OR support team. It simplifies scheduling, provides real-time data on patient progress and operational status to improve communication, and gathers data to help streamline workflows and empower clinical teams to deliver the best care.

“Virtually every hospital is grappling with how to restore their elective surgery calendars, especially considering the perioperative staff shortages affecting many health systems,” added Robbins. “We’re excited to attend the annual AVAS conference with our valued partner, DSS. We look forward to showcasing PREFcards and the entire LiveData PeriOp Manager product suite for the VA and learning more about how we can help VA surgery center leaders with the challenges they face.”
