RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – WRAL TechWire keeps tabs on the latest and greatest meetups, panels, workshops, conferences, application deadlines and all things happening in the entrepreneurial, technology and business communities in the Triangle and across North Carolina.

Following is a list of events across Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and the greater Triangle area through the end of March. Many events will be held in person, as some organizers are returning to a live format.

2023 ElectriCities Connections Summit

March 7–9 @Embassy Suites in Cary

This annual conference brings together public power representatives, organizations, city/town managers, IT and finance directors, and other leaders to discuss the latest challenges, technology developments and customer expectations in today’s power industry.

Raleigh Chamber Coffee With Leaders

HR 101 for Startups & Small Businesses

Triangle Biotech Tuesday

Triangle Biotech Tuesday is a monthly meetup that connects scientific professionals across the RTP/greater Triangle area. Join to network with professionals from different industries. The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month.

1 Million Cups RTP

This micro-granting contest will feature four pitches from local early-stage founders or community members with ideas for a venture. The audience will vote on their favorite pitch, and the winner will take away more than $1,000.

NC TECH’s Diversity + Inclusion in Tech Summit

March 30 @Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Conference Center

NC TECH will host a one-day conference offering strategies and perspectives on implementing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the workplace.

14th Annual Alternative Investments Conference

March 30 @Carolina Inn

This annual event from UNC Chapel Hill’s Institute for Private Capital covers the latest trends and topics in alternative investments. It typically draws professionals across private equity, venture capital, hedge fund and alternative asset markets.

Early Application Deadline: 101 Weston Labs

March 31

101 Weston Labs is a new accelerator from Cary-based Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina. The three-month program targets North America-headquartered startups developing solutions for independent insurance agencies. It includes weekly training seminars, coaching/mentoring from experts and entrepreneurs, access to a network of insurtech investors and stakeholders, and connections to independent distribution channels. The first cohort will run from June to August. Final applications are due on May 5.

Application Deadline: IdeaFest Business Pitch Competition

March 31

The Launch Place is accepting applications for its eighth annual IdeaFest, where nearly a dozen finalists will pitch their ideas to judges and a live audience. The top three winners will get $10,000. The event is scheduled for April 20 in Danville, Virginia. (Note: The Launch Place is based in Virginia, but it has an office in RTP and invests in Triangle-area startups.) 

Application Deadline: NC State’s Andrews Launch Accelerator

March 31

NC State’s 14-week Andrews Launch Accelerator provides equity-free seed capital, business development learning modules, guidance and resources to help student founders enter the next stage of their startup journey.
