RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK — Bionic Health, an AI-powered personalized healthcare startup, announced today that Dr. Peter Lee, Corporate Vice President of Research and Incubations at Microsoft, has joined its Board of Directors.

Dr. Lee is known for his expertise in artificial intelligence, computer science, and health care innovation.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Peter Lee to our board,” said Bionic Health co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jared Pelo, in the press release. “Peter has been at the forefront of AI in medicine and Bionic Health will benefit from his vision and leadership.”

The company also announced that Bionic Health was selected from several hundred companies to participate in Betaworks AI Camp, a program for early-stage AI startups. As one of twelve startups selected for the program, Bionic Health will receive additional investment from Betaworks, Greycoft, Mozilla Ventures, and Differential VC, according to the press release.

“Being selected for Betaworks AI Camp is a huge honor and validation of our innovative approach to AI in healthcare” said Bionic Health’s CEO, Robbie Allen in the press release.

Bionic Health has established a clinic in North Carolina with dozens of patients to train the company’s AI on real-world practices and protocols, according to the website. Founders Allen (founder of Automated Insights, which was acquired by Vista Equity Partners) and Pelo (founder of iScribes, acquired by Nuance Communications) describe the startup as “democratizing access to preventative medicine for health-conscious adults.”

Bionic Health is currently on a waitlist—interested users can join the waitlist for one of three care plans, according to the Bionic Health website.

According to the press release, Bionic Health is currently working on expanding its capacity and plans to reopen enrollment for new members later in 2023.
