Nine hot shows to watch in April

Spring has sprung at last.

April brings a slew of new shows — including a surprisingly large trend of psychological thrillers with big-name stars including Rachel Weisz, Jennifer Garner and Joshua Jackson.

Here’s a quick look at nine new offerings dropping this month.

“Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields” 

This two-part documentary is in a similar vein to “Pamela, a Love Story” and examines the life and career of Shields, from her 1978 movie “Pretty Baby” to her relationship with Andre Agassi and her current life. 

Where to watch: Hulu, April 3. 

“Beef”

Steven Yeun and Ali Wong co-star in this dramedy about two strangers who get into a road-range incident, which spins both of their lives into chaos. 

Where to watch: Netflix, April 6.

“Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies”

The prequel to “Grease” is set at Rydell High, four years before Sandy’s (Olivia Newton- John) arrival. It’s a musical series, with songs from Justin Trantor, who has collaborated with Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez. 

Where to watch: Paramount+, April 6.

“The Last Thing He Told Me”

Jennifer Garner and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Game of Thrones”) star in this thriller based on a bestselling novel. It follows Hannah (Garner), who must form a relationship with her teen stepdaughter in order to track down her husband, who has mysteriously vanished. 

Where to watch: Apple TV+, April 14.

“The Diplomat”

Kerri Russell headlines this new series about a career diplomat who land’s a high-profile job for which she’s not suited — while dealing with an international crisis that impacts her marriage and her future. Rufus Sewell and Rory Kinnear (“Penny Dreadful”) co-star. 

Where to watch: Netflix, April 20.

“Mrs. Davis”

This newest series from the mind of Damon Lindelof (“Lost,” “Watchmen”) was co-created by Tara Hernandez (“The Big Bang Theory”). It’s a sci-fi drama about a nun (Betty Gilpin, “GLOW”) who uses her faith to face off against AI technology. 

Where to watch: Peacock, April 20. 

“Dead Ringers” 

A psychological thriller miniseries based on the 1988 movie of the same name in which Jeremy Irons played identical twin gynecologists. Here, Rachel Weisz stars in the Irons role as the series follows twin gynecologists who share everything — including drugs, lovers and slippery medical ethics. 

Where to watch: Prime Video, April 21. 

“Love & Death”

A new David E. Kelley drama about two churchgoing couples who live a seemingly quiet life in small-town Texas life — until somebody picks up an ax. Elizabeth Olsen, Jesse Plemons and Krysten Ritter star. 

Where to watch: HBO Max, April 27 .

“Citadel” 

Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden co-star in this espionage thriller from the Russo brothers (“Avengers: Endgame”). They play elite agents who have been hiding ever since their global spy agency was destroyed. They’ve had their memories wiped … and are unaware of their pasts.  

Where to watch: Prime Video, April 28. 

“Fatal Attraction”

Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan star in a “reimagining” of the classic 1987 movie starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. The series follows Dan Gallagher (Jackson), a married man who has an affair with Alex Forrest (Caplan), who becomes obsessed with him.
