StartUp Health Insights: Several Nutrition & Metabolic Health Startups Raise Money | Week of Dec 6, 2022

Getting started early on New Year’s resolutions, four startups from around the world that are focused on nutrition or metabolic weight loss closed rounds this week. Funding also went to Medicare management, clinical trials, healthcare engagement, and more.

This week’s reported health innovation funding included:

UpStream, a Greensboro, NC-based startup that integrates pharmacists and other experts into primary care systems to better manage care for Medicare patients, raised $140M co-led by Dragoneer and Coatue, with participation from Mubadala, Avidity Capital, and Define Ventures. <source>

HealthKart, a Gurgaon, India-based foodtech platform focused on preventive health by addressing nutritional gaps, raised $135M led by Temasek, with participation from A91 Partners and Kae Capital. <source>

Vial, a San Francisco, CA-based tech-enabled clinical trial service provider, raised $67M led by General Catalyst, with participation from Byers Capital, BoxGroup, and others. <source>

Lumen, a Tel Aviv, Israel-based personalized metabolic health solution for weight loss, raised $62M led by Pitango Venture Capital, with participation from Hanwha Group, Resolute Ventures, RiverPark Ventures, Unorthodox Ventures, Almeda Capital, and Disruptive VC. <source>

Ostro, a Miami, FL-based healthcare engagement platform for consumers and HCPs, raised $45M from Founders Fund, Byers Capital, Caffeinated Capital, Greycroft, Bling Capital, Trust Ventures, and RRE Ventures. <source>

Cloud Health Systems, a new startup aiming to offer consumers medical consultations and other health-related services focused on metabolic health and obesity, raised $30M led by Thrive Capital with participation from Greenoaks Capital. <source>

Zoe, a London, UK- and Boston, MA-based startup that uses self-reporting tech to track nutrition and health, raised £25M (~ $30M) led by Accomplice, with participation from Balderton Capital, Ahren, Daphni, and L Catterton. <source>

PictorLabs, a Los Angeles, CA-based digital pathology company, raised $15.2M led by M Ventures, SCC Soft Computer, and Koç Holding. <source>

Minze Health, an Antwerp, Belgium-based startup focused on remote monitoring for urinary tract conditions, raised €3.9M (~ $4.1M) from White Fund, Capricorn Partners, and PMV. <source>

ImVitro, a Paris, France-based provider of a platform that applies computer vision and AI to the IVF fertility imaging process, raised $2.5M led by LDV Capital, with participation from MMC Ventures, Tiny VC, Fly Ventures, and Compound VC. <source>
