“When y’all was founded in 2018, we set out to upend the traditional agency model — we sought to cut through the typical noise and leave a lasting impression on the world,” agency leaders say. “For our clients, this meant transforming brands into memorable, tangible experiences that educate and inspire. For our employees, it was nurturing talent with a balanced space to use and expand specialized skills. The alchemy of these critical drivers has facilitated some notable and awe-inspiring accomplishments in the past year.”

Recent accomplishments

“As an agency that thrives in the digital realm, we have been able to create experiences that push limits in an industry that is often defined by its boundaries.  We executed a highly notable and successful presence at the American Urologic Association 2022 conference, with an immersive booth featuring cutting-edge touch tables to tell a dynamic brand story. We also set a new standard on patient profiles with real-life animation, complex treatment scenarios driven by even more complex algorithms, and hands-on interaction.”

2022 also saw the agency launch the first installment of its patient docuseries that managers say captures the raw, personal story of a patient diagnosed with rare disease. “Retaining empathy and artistic vision while staying within the parameters of healthcare promotion, this represented a true accomplishment for both our company and our clients.”

And, executives add, given the agency’s attention to employee mental health and the desire to keep talent inspired, “it’s no surprise that y’all was largely untouched by the Great Resignation and quiet quitting phenomena of 2021 and 2022. With a fully remote workforce and an employee retention rate of 95 percent, the y’all agency model is proving to be a healthy and sustainable one.

“Consequently, 2022 saw the launch of our internal initiative, y’allLabs, an online platform for our team to explore design thinking, emerging technologies, and creative development without restrictions. Leadership at y’all, including Founding Partner David Brungard, is pushing boundaries with AI art, design, and copywriting through y’allLabs, encouraging collaboration and
inspiration-sharing across disciplines and time zones.”

Structure and services

In the mini-documentary, “Mike’s Tomorrow,” Y’all featured a real patient, his family, and his urologist in a story that takes us through diagnosis, treatment, recurrence, and subsequent successful treatment.

With our purposeful approach to growth in mind, y’all’s agency structure has remained mostly simplified over our three-plus years in business,” leaders maintain. “As a small, nimble agency, we don’t have a need for complex layers of hierarchy to service our clients with top-tier talent. With experienced leaders involved in day-to-day work, we have the ability to offer our clients strategic insight and executional prowess from select senior talent on any and all deliverables.”

The agency services range from beginning strategy and conceptual development to final execution and tracking ROIs. “We partner with our clients to foster and grow their brands. We challenge conventional ways of thinking to bring a new fresh perspective to our work,” executives say. “We have a full suite of digital offerings that are driven by insight and delivered using code, video, and 3D animation to elevate our clients’ brand into a storytelling experience.”

Future plans

As they look ahead to 2023 and beyond, leaders say y’all will continue to engage in experiential projects through upcoming conference and video opportunities. “Partnerships in the pipeline promise to expand our portfolio into new industries,” executives state. “We continue to focus our energies in the biotech space, where we believe our unique mix of art, storytelling, and technology can help to solve complex problems in creative and awe-inspiring ways.”

According to the leadership team, future plans also include more face-to-face time for y’all’s fully remote team. “In October 2022, our team came together for a well-earned company retreat in the Catskill mountains of New York,” executives say. “For many of us, this was our first time meeting each other in person. We were excited to see that our Zoom-level dynamic translated seamlessly into collaboration, learning, and inspiration-
sharing when our team got together in a room (gasp!) without screens. We value the flexibility that our remote agency allows us, and we plan to enhance our team’s human connection through more retreats and regional get-togethers in 2023.”

Philanthropy/citizenship

At y’all, giving back is the core of what we do,” executives say. “In 2022, our team continued our partnership with ICAAD (International Center for Advocates Against Discrimination), a human rights advocacy center that helps communities and governments create a more equitable society through evidence-based programs that combat structural discrimination. Our work with ICAAD is focused on their Dicta program – an artist-in-residence program designed to bring light to social justice issues through artivism [art + activism].”

The beginning of 2023 also saw the agency launch its internal initiative, Make a Daily Difference, a website that provides users with an organization to support on any given day of the year.
