Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B (APSB) was founded with the goal of creating a global high-level forum centred around drug discovery and pharmaceutical research/application. APSB was included by Chemical Abstracts in 2011, accepted by PubMed Central in 2015, indexed by Science Citation Index in 2017 and has evolved to become one of the most important international journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

APSB is a monthly journal, in English, which publishes significant original research articles, rapid communications and high-quality reviews of recent advances in all areas of pharmaceutical sciences — including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, natural products, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacokinetics.

Articles of interest in this issue include:

Predicting disruptions to drug pharmacokinetics and the risk of adverse drug reactions in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis patients by Solène Marie, Kayla L. Frost, Raymond K. Hau et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2022.08.018). Expression of several hepatic metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters are altered in NASH patients. Therefore, this review identifies drugs that may exhibit disrupted pharmacokinetics based on their ADME properties.

Kinome-wide polypharmacology profiling of small molecules by multi-task graph isomorphism network approach by Lingjie Bao, Zhe Wang, Zhenxing Wu et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2022.05.004). A multi-task graph isomorphism network model and related online web server were developed to predict the kinome-wide polypharmacology effects of small molecules with high accuracy.

Melatonin alleviates alcoholic liver disease via EGFR–BRG1–TERT axis regulation by Zhaodi Che, Yali Song, Chengfang Xu  et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2022.06.015). Melatonin alleviates ethanol-induced liver steatosis, cell death, and inflammation through a direct binding and regulation of hepatocyte surface EGFR, to inhibit nuclear BRG1 expression and enhance downstream TERT activity.
