Alcami appoints new CEO as former chief Patrick Walsh announces retirement

Alcami, a North Carolina-based contract manufacturer, tapped a new CEO earlier this week as former chief Patrick Walsh announced his retirement.

Bill Humphries took the helm on June 5, Alcami announced on Monday. Walsh will remain as chairman of the board, and Humphries will also join the board of directors.

“I am excited to join Alcami and work alongside a tremendous leadership team and dedicated employees that are well respected in the life sciences industry,” Humphries said in a release.

According to Humphries’ LinkedIn profile, he recently served as CEO of Isosceles Pharmaceuticals, and also served as CEO of Merz North America and president at Stiefel.

Walsh took the CEO role at Alcami in March 2021. He previously served as the CEO of AAI Pharma, the predecessor company that became Alcami, between 2010 and 2014. After that, he was CEO of TriPharm Services, which Alcami eventually acquired.

A handful of contract manufacturers have reported changes at the top this year, including Australia’s BioCina which appointed 30-year CDMO veteran Mark Womack to the CEO role. Meanwhile, in March, Indiana-based cell and gene therapy CDMO Genezen appointed Steven Favaloro as its new president and CEO.
