RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – WRAL TechWire keeps tabs on the latest and greatest meetups, panels, workshops, conferences, application deadlines and all things happening in the entrepreneurial, technology and business communities in the Triangle and across North Carolina.

Following is a list of events across Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and the greater Triangle area through the end of February. Many events will be held in person, as some organizers are returning to a live format.

RTI Fellow Program Distinguished Lecture Series: Doris Rouse

Jan. 30, 3-5 p.m. @RTI Main Campus (& online)

At this event, Doris Rouse of RTI International will share tips for building effective partnerships, examples of medical advances made possible through public-private partnerships, and more.

NC IDEA 101 with Natalie Scarritt & Jeff Livesay of CopyForward

Join this virtual information session to learn about NC IDEA and its grants, programs and other initiatives serving North Carolina startups. Natalie Scarritt and Jeff Livesay of CopyForward will lead the session.

Application Deadline: Pop-Up Shops at Martin Street

Jan. 30

This pop-up retail store program offers minority- and women-owned businesses an affordable retail space, business counseling and exposure to the downtown Raleigh market.

Applications Open for NC IDEA’s Spring 2023 Grants Cycle

NC IDEA will open the application window for its two flagship grant programs, serving North Carolina tech startups: NC IDEA MICRO (small, project-based grants of $10,000) and NC IDEA SEED ($50,000 for startups with a proven concept). Applications close on Feb. 27.

FSPV: Fundamentals of Solar PV Design & Installation

Jan. 30 – Feb. 3 @NCCETC Module 5 Training Room

This 40-hour course will cover the basics of designing and installing photovoltaic systems, with an optional hands-on installation day taking place after the online program.

Regional Transportation Alliance’s 21st Annual Meeting: State of Mobility

Jan. 31, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. @Embassy Suites Raleigh-Durham/Research Triangle

This year’s Regional Transportation Alliance meeting will be a two-part series, with an online event on Jan. 24 and an in-person luncheon on Jan. 31 at the Embassy Suites. This event is a chance to meet with hundreds of regional leaders to gain insights on current and emerging trends in transportation.

Application Deadline: UNC KickStart Commercialization Grants

This award program offers $5,000 to $50,000 to help early-stage companies meet commercial milestones. In addition to funding, the program also provides access to business experts. Requests for proposals are solicited quarterly from faculty founders.

Application Deadline: Next Level Accelerator Program

Run by the Central Carolina Community College Small Business Center, this 10-week accelerator guides emerging entrepreneurs through the process of validating their business concepts through the lean startup strategy. Participants will narrow down a target market, test and prove their ideas, and learn how to pitch to investors. Classes are free and located in Pittsboro.

Application Deadline: DIG SOUTH Wild Pitch Competition (in SC)

Jan. 31

Companies across the Southeast are welcome to apply to DIG SOUTH’s upcoming pitch competition in South Carolina. Selected startups will pitch to an audience of investors, executives, fellow entrepreneurs and other leaders. The 2023 edition will be held during the DIG SOUTH Tech Summit from April 26–27 in Charleston.

Cary Chamber Economic Development Meeting
