RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – WRAL TechWire keeps tabs on the latest meetups, panels, workshops, conferences, application deadlines and everything happening in the entrepreneurial, technology and business communities in the Triangle and across North Carolina.

Following is a list of events in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and the greater Triangle area through the end of September. Many events will be held in person, as some organizers are returning to a live format.

New Bern Avenue BRT Corridor Small Business Workshops

The Raleigh Chamber Foundation, the City of Raleigh and Capitol B Creative are hosting a new event series for small businesses along the New Bern Avenue bus rapid transit route. This series will provide relevant information and resources to help businesses be successful with the new transit experience.

Wake Tech Small Business Center Funding Masterclass

This monthly webinar series will help first-time business owners understand the basics of securing funding. Sessions will cover business loans, credit, financial statement analysis, business plan development, cash flow management, debt, alternative funding options and other key topics.

Raleigh Department of Transportation Job Fair

Sept. 8–9, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. @Raleigh Central Operations Facility

The Raleigh Department of Transportation is hosting a two-day job fair featuring the latest job opportunities in field services, including maintenance, equipment operation and seasonal leaf collection.

Southeast Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition Conference

Sept. 8–9 @Duke University

This conference will center around the fast-growing Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) market. The event targets MBA students, entrepreneurs, recent graduates, mid-career professionals and anyone interested in the ETA world.

Application Deadline: Big Launch Challenge Pitch Competition [EXTENDED]

Sept. 10

The Launch Place’s 11th annual Big Launch Challenge will return to Durham this October. Applications are open for the pitch program, in which 10 early-stage startups will compete for $15,000. Note: The deadline has now been extended to Sept. 10.

Security for Startups: Solved!

This virtual workshop will offer tips and strategies around security and SOC-2 for SaaS startups.

Triangle Biotech Tuesday

Sept. 12, 5:30 p.m. 

Triangle Biotech Tuesday is a monthly meetup that connects scientific professionals across the RTP/greater Triangle area. Join to network with professionals from different industries. The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month.

Climate Tech Connections

Sept. 12, 5:30-7 p.m. @American Underground (rooftop lounge)

Co-hosted by American Underground and Duke University’s Center for Energy, Development and the Global Environment (EDGE), this after-work event will convene the Triangle’s climate tech professionals for an evening of networking over drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Tax Updates & Changes Affecting Small Businesses

Managing Foreign Exchange

Application Deadline: NCBiotech Flash Grant Program

Sept. 13, 12 p.m.

For its Flash Grant program, the North Carolina Biotech Center is looking for innovative life science technology ideas with commercial potential. Up to $20,000 may be requested. This round is open to projects focused on neuroscience research and neuro-associated products.

N.C. Biotech Center awards 31 grants, loans totaling nearly $2.8M

Talking Shop: Telling Your Story
