RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Three outstanding life sciences leaders are among the 25 awardees of the Triangle Business Journal 2023 Women in Business Awards.

TBJ says the annual awards program recognizes Triangle women “who have proven to be dynamic and outstanding leaders with established track records of significant accomplishments” in business and/or community service.

“The North Carolina Biotechnology Center applauds the incredibly important work done by Eva Garland, Jessica Neil and Laura Potter,” said NCBiotech President and CEO Doug Edgeton. “We congratulate these talented Ph.D.-degreed professionals, who represent the diverse nature of the life sciences community and the wide variety of leadership roles women play in moving forward this vital sector.”

Garland is founder of Eva Garland Consulting (EGC). Neil is general manager of MedPharm. Potter is chief science officer of AgBiome

“This year’s class of honorees represents the best in professional accomplishment, leadership and community engagement,” said TBJ Market President and Publisher Jason Christie. Awardees were announced Jan. 31. A celebration lunch will be held March 23. A full list of awardees and information about the lunch are available here.

“It is a great honor to be recognized among the top businesspeople in the Triangle,” Garland said. “The award truly reflects the hard work of EGC’s incredible team of dedicated employees who are passionate about helping our clients advance their scientific discoveries for the benefit of society.

“We are particularly pleased to have supported NC-based life sciences companies in expanding their access to funding so as to more rapidly and efficiently to commercialize their innovations,” Garland added.

MedPharm responded to the awards announcement by posting a tweet about Neil’s importance to the CRO’s success: “Jessica has played a crucial role in helping MedPharm become what it is today, and we’re lucky to have her leading our team. This award is further proof not only of her contributions to MedPharm but to our entire community.”

Potter was named AgBiome’s new chief science officer in November 2022. In the announcement, AgBiome noted her extensive life sciences history: “She has over 20 years of experience in life sciences R&D, including biotech, agriculture and pharmaceuticals, as well as over 10 years of global leadership experience.”
