Reality Sandwich helps Celebrate the 15th Annual Gem & Jam

Well to happily inform you Gem and Jam Festival can put a stop to those cravings, bringing you high-vibrational live music amid the desert, surrounded by the ones who feel the same way you do, A festival rooted in art, spirituality, and the culture of genre-bending psychedelic music.

What is Gem & Jam?

Gem & Jam is truly a festival like no other, hosting both prominent Internationally and Nationally touring names in the jam and electronic music stratosphere. Not to mention, workshops, performers, visual artists, high-end art gallery installations coupled with cutting edge production will ensure you will be having the time of your life.

The Line up Announced for this upcoming year Gem and Jam includes The String Cheese Incident, LSDream, The Floozies, Dirtwire, SoDown and so many more. 

Gem and Jam include not one, not two but THREE outdoor stages with never-ending music and crowds going almost all night. The Atmosphere is immaculate, perfectly mapping out each stage so sounds don’t clash but are not too far off where you’ll get lost walking around. That doesn’t even include the indoor stage venue with a giant open space and party lights to dance the night away or if looking for some indoor relaxation.

How to get into Gem & Jam 2023

Gem and Jam Tickets are now on sale. You can find links at the end of this article or on any social media platform @gemandjamfestival. The Festival is 3 days long starting February 3rd and going till the 5th. Located in Tuscon Arizona at the Pima County Fairgrounds.  If you plan on staying for the full three days you have multiple options. You will need an extra pass for each camping option. 

The first option includes RV Camping or Car camping simply pull up your rig and enjoy your portable home at the festival grounds or park your car in the designated lot and set up your indoor/outdoor station. 

A prewarning request based on last year’s weather at Gem and Jam, high wind speeds made it very difficult to withstand sleeping outside with easy ups or tents, however with the right equipment and resources it is completely possible to remain comfortable, the importance here is to come prepared. 

Gem and Jam also provides a Glamping camp pass where you’ll have your insulated Shift pod for the weekend which includes an Inflatable mattress, bedding, furniture, space heater, and electricity and is located in a shaded, grassy reserved camping section.

Live Art at Gem & Jam 2023

As if live music wasnt enough get ready to watch the process of creating art right in front of your eyes. Gem and Jam is one of the few festivals that incorporates live paintings and sculptures into their venue. 

The dopest thing is to come back to a piece of work,  to find it in a completely different stage with more added details when you just watched them start. The finished projects still never fail to blow your mind even though you watch the art slowly come together. 

This is such a beautiful and truly indescribable encounter added to your festival experience. Allowing you to appreciate art on another level. To talk one on one with such talented artists of all kinds and watch them create their piece is an aspiring artist’s dream. The whole venue transforms into an inspiring visit. 

What Vendors will be at Gem & Jam

Be sure to bring plenty of extra spending money because not only are paintings for sale but incredible crafts and goods of all works. While exploring the festival grounds pop-up tents will be selling the accessories of your dreams. 

An honorable mention of the last season’s favorite, ThirdEyePincones, using earth rocks and crystals and resin pinecone slabs to create the most beautiful pendants that bring the groundedness of the earth right to your heart. 

There are amazingly crafted leather goods, festival wear, and other one-of-a-kind art, clothing, and gifts. 

Festival Eats at Gem & Jam

Do not fear fellow foodie citizens! The food options available at Gem and Jam will not disappoint! With an entire row of food vendors, you will have a hard time choosing which cuisine to dive into! Not only are there multiple vegan and vegetarian options but different cultures are represented in the food which we love to see. Carnivores we didn’t forget about you, plenty of meat to go around as well! Last year’s options included American, Indian, greek, and Hawaiian dishes. Each one is just as delicious as the next. 

“Extra Extra”

If those things didn’t quite catch your eye Gem and Jams got more up their sleeve! During the day multiple workshops and classes will be going down such as yoga, healing circles, spiritual lessons, and more. If you play instruments look for signs about jam circles when walking around. Gem and Jam also creates an interactive experience with performers and dancers that will blow your mind using towers aerial ropes lights, etc. We would hate to spoil too much about the event so you better be going to see what it’s all about yourself! Gem and Jam 2023 is something you’re not going to want to miss!   

Gem & Jam 2023 Review

As a member of the Reality Sandwich editorial team, I had the opportunity to attend the Gem & Jam festival 2023 and it was truly an unforgettable experience.

The festival offered a diverse lineup of musicians and performers, and one of the standout acts was the String Cheese Incident. Their set was a genre-bending fusion of bluegrass, rock, and electronic music that had the entire crowd grooving. It was clear that the band members were having a blast on stage, and their energy was infectious.

But the Gem & Jam festival was about more than just music. The gem and mineral vendors were top-notch, offering an incredible selection of stones and jewelry that had us browsing for hours. The festival’s psychedelic art installations and light shows were also a highlight, creating a truly trippy and unforgettable atmosphere.

Psychedelics played a significant role in the festival scene, with talks and workshops on psychedelic therapy, harm reduction, and intentional use. The festival organizers went to great lengths to ensure that psychedelic use was done safely and responsibly, offering a designated space for psychedelic experiences and prioritizing harm reduction and education.

What I loved most about the Gem & Jam festival was the sense of community. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and it was clear that people had traveled from all over to be there. Whether we were dancing together at a show, chatting over a meal, or participating in a workshop or discussion, I felt a real sense of connection with the people around me.

All in all, the Gem & Jam festival 2023 was a truly unique experience that combined music, art, gemstones, and psychedelics in a way that was unlike anything else out there. It’s a must-attend event for anyone interested in exploring these realms in a safe and intentional space.
