Most seniors want to live independently in their homes for as long as they can. Hospitalization a leading cause leading to managed care facilities for the elderly, but it can be prevented in more than half of the cases if they are anticipated beforehand. PRESAGE is a predictive telemonitoring device that assesses patients’ emergency and hospitalization risks. This technology employs AI to help the elderly avoid acute illness. PRESAGE algorithms — developed using more than 500,000 real-life data points — predict fluctuations in the health of aged people, send timely notifications to the caregivers, and thereby lowers the likelihood of ER visits.

A questionnaire consisting of 25 questions is completed by the patient’s family, friends, relatives, or caregivers. Mobility, appetite, sleep, social isolation, and other topics are covered in the questionnaire. AI analyzes this data and generates insights or alerts, forecasting hospitalizations seven to fourteen days in advance. Moreover, the program transmits tailored feedback to the seniors and their caregivers. It also helps to track and predict various issues accompanying aging, including malnutrition, falls, isolation, psychological distress, caregiver burnout risk, and behavioral disorders.

Through regular monitoring, the app assists in the timely diagnosis of developing medical issues and fosters healthcare surveillance so that the attending health practitioner can intervene right on time.  According to the company’s trial published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, the PRESAGE system lowers emergency admissions by 90% and is more than 99% reliable.

The primary goal of this predictive tech is to avert expensive and life-changing medical emergencies. The application could be beneficial for seniors and their caregivers to take the necessary steps before a problem develops into a crisis.
