While you’re looking for a used couch, bike, baby stroller or some other random item on OfferUp, maybe you can find a job as well.
The Seattle-area startup has added job listings to its popular peer-to-peer marketplace with the launch of OfferUp Jobs in the company’s mobile app. The service, which OfferUp has been testing in select U.S. regions, became available to all users on Thursday.
OfferUp Jobs allows job seekers to search by keyword, filter jobs by location, or browse jobs in the feed. Users can apply directly from their mobile device and all interaction or status of applications is handled by the employer. Users can’t post their own job offers — OfferUp is working with a third-party provider.
The company said more than 1 million OfferUp users have tried the service already, and it promised more updates to the feature in the coming months. (See more details in this FAQ.)
A quick browse of the listings by GeekWire on Thursday found ads for FedEx warehouse package handler, Lyft driver, DoorDash delivery driver, dental hygienist, Amazon fulfillment center associate and more.
Founded in 2011, Bellevue, Wash.-based OfferUp competes against Craigslist, eBay, Facebook and other marketplaces where users buy and sell goods. The company boasts 56 million buyers and sellers on its platform and is currently ranked No. 6 on the GeekWire 200, our ranked index of Pacific Northwest startups.
OfferUp raised $120 million in March 2020 and acquired rival Letgo. The company is among an elite group of Seattle-area unicorns, meaning it has a valuation of more than $1 billion.
