On Feb 23, 2023, a select group of participants spent an hour meeting inspirational entrepreneurs from the StartUp Health portfolio who are working to achieve health moonshots that will improve the health and wellbeing of people around the world.

Each Health Transformer had just five minutes to share their novel solutions and progress with an invite-only Zoom room of investors and partners. HealthTechApps Provides Mental Health Support to Screenagers

Universities and colleges lose millions of revenue dollars when their students unenroll because of mental health challenges: anxiety, depression, and thoughts of suicide. Schools also have very little insight into the mental health of their student population as depression and anxiety screenings are only given to students that seek help from the counseling center. As students seek mental health counseling appointments, unless in crisis, most students are waiting up to two weeks before they even speak to a mental health professional.

Noe Foster, Chief Innovation Officer & Co-founder of HealthTechApps, is on a mission to heal this generation of “screenagers.” HealthTechApps — which joined StartUp Health in 2017 — delivers a AI/ML high-tech, high-touch, plug-and-play solution for universities and colleges that uses MindKloud an AI mobile application that leverages short selfie videos and/or text-based responses, paired with AI and machine learning to capture, compute, and communicate mental health symptoms and triggers for the student and their mental health providers.

JetSweat Connects the Fitness Ecosystem with the New World of Virtual Wellness

Alexandra Dantzig, CEO & Co-founder of JetSweat, is on a mission to help studios scale virtually and make premium fitness classes more accessible, convenient, and affordable for everyone.

Fitness studios need to hybridize in order to scale, increase customer revenue and LTV, and serve their customers seeking virtual fitness experiences. However, they lack the resources, capital, and expertise to build and manage their own streaming platform.

Lazurite’s ArthroFree System Is the Surgical Camera for the Wireless Age

Leah Brownlee, President & General Counsel of Lazurite, is on a mission to allow surgeons to operate freely: free of cluttered sterile fields, free of surgical towers, and free of the hassles and hazards associated with conventional surgical cameras.

Lazurite — which joined StartUp Health in 2017 — has developed the ArthroFree System, the only FDA-cleared wireless surgical camera on the market. ArthroFree’s proprietary light source and wireless connectivity eliminates the need for camera cables. It also eliminates the cleaning and reprocessing of these cables, as well as the need for the power/video box and the light box on the surgical tower. Compared to conventional camera systems, ArthroFree projects 38% faster setups and takedowns and cost-per-case savings of 20%.

For rehab clinics and people recovering from addiction, NuLife — which joined StartUp Health in 2021 — is a behavioral health platform that extends the benefits of a close-knit rehab (and post-rehab) community into the home. NuLife continues to monitor a patient’s progress and wellbeing through automated assessment and outcome check-ins alerting key stakeholders with critical data for timely interventions or rewards.
